“The Wider Application of GSAR ICS”
Now that the Ground Search and Rescue Incident Command System (GSAR ICS) Project is entering the testing phase of solution development, people are asking whether the integrated GSAR ICS solution can be applied to all-hazard emergency management as well as various police services operations such as ERT, event security and public order.
The answer is a conditional ‘yes’. While these non-GSAR applications of the technology solution are not funded by the Project (i.e., Public Safety Canada), GSAR ICS can be readily configured to meet a wide variety of applications from floods and wildfires to active shooter and mass casualty incidents.
The testing of GSAR ICS as a Project activity is being designed to enable leading Canadian GSAR organizations to provide ongoing advice and input to the industry team regarding the optimization of the integrated solution for ground search and rescue. The component parts of GSAR ICS, however, are configurations of robust applications that are already widely used for case/incident management purposes.
