Ground Search and Rescue Incident Command System (GSAR ICS) Project – Year 2
As we kick off Year 2 of the GSAR ICS Project (https://gsar-ics.com), the industry team has a lot to look forward to as we engage with a growing group of stakeholders in the Canadian GSAR, public safety and non-profit communities.
Year 1 of the Project was very successful, and I am happy to say there is now an integrated, interoperable GSAR ICS solution for stakeholders to evaluate.
As a result of the positive response to the Project, there are an increasing number of organizations that have committed to testing the GSAR ICS solution from across Canada, representing all levels of government as well as volunteer GSAR organizations.
And, as the Project’s profile broadens among the wider public safety, emergency management and humanitarian assistance communities, the industry team is receiving an increasing number of requests for GSAR ICS solution demonstrations from organizations that are not directly involved in GSAR.
One of the Project’s objectives is to “build response capabilities and support emergency management” so the industry team is happy to engage in GSAR ICS solution demonstrations, especially since it has numerous important capabilities that go beyond the requirements of GSAR.
The release of the GSAR ICS solution is timely because it is so evident today that there is a rapidly expanding need across Canada for a fully functional critical incident management technology solution to address a wide and increasing dangerous range of threats.
Leading public safety organizations in Canada know that a flexible and adaptable GSAR ICS solution represents a foundational layer for any end-to-end critical incident management solution – and they want to know whether GSAR ICS can be configured for this wider purpose.
The answer to the question is ‘yes’.
The GSAR ICS Project industry team is excited to be working with many of Canada’s leading GSAR, public safety and non-profit organizations, and we stand ready to configure the GSAR ICS solution to meet any critical incident management technology needs as they arise. Stay safe!
