“Ground Search and Rescue Incident Command System (GSAR ICS) Project Update”

We’re approaching the end of Year 1 of the national GSAR ICS Project, which is being funded by Public Safety Canada. The industry team is making good progress with GSAR ICS integrated solution development. The initial operational capability (IOC) release is currently scheduled for completion by March 31, 2023.
GSAR ICS will be an integrated solution comprised of the bilingual IC4W incident management application integrated with ATAK tactical situational awareness software. This innovative solution is specifically designed to:
– Improve SAR results;
– Enhance national interoperability between SAR organizations;
– Support information, data, and knowledge sharing;
– Build response capabilities and support emergency management; and
– Foster mutual aid and interjurisdictional cooperation.
The GSAR ICS industry team is benefitting from the great cooperation and expert advice we are receiving from the project’s stellar Advisory Group, which is comprised of police services, military, and volunteer GSAR organizations from across Canada.
